You need to get links to your website out on the internet. The best way to do that is through article marketing — and it doesn’t cost anything either. You are on the right step by creating your own website. But that is only the first small step. You will need to know how to drive heavy traffic to your website. As you know, conversion rates are very low in affiliate advertising, sometimes just 1% although they go as high as 8%.

I made zero in the first few months of affiliate advertising. I then decided to get some advice and purchased a affiliate coaching program from Site Build. I don’t like to spend money on instructions but I took the risk because the website is ranked 318 OVERALL in the U.S. in terms of traffic (This is quite phenomenal for a website that provides instructions and interactive sessions on affiliate marketing).

Theirs is the only website where one person personally chats or talks to you to give you advice on affiliate marketing. It also allows you to network with successful affiliates, not the ones who are struggling.

I comfortably make enough to do this full time now. It was a great investment for me. I believe that you should give it a try. It will be well worth the investment.

You can use subdomains for affiliate marketing. Weebly is good and user-friendly. People may visit Weebly but it would not be easy for them to know of your site.

You would still need to put in efforts to bring traffic to your site. As this is your long term business, it is always better to have your own domain names rather than to use Weebly.

With your own domain names, you can spend the time and effort to bring traffic and build backlinks. The latter would be the most challenging part in any internet marketing business.

You can consider pay per click advertising, article marketing, press release, SEO efforts, video marketing, forum commenting, web 2.0 properties like squidoo/hubpages/facebook groups etc…

You can use subdomains and they will and can work. If you can and you find you have a good program working it would be better to buy a domain and really put some effort into marketing to your new domain.

I use http://www.trafficgeyser.com and video marketing to promote sites and subdomains for a number of affiliate programs.

PR submissions and article marketing is also a very good methods for getting free traffic.

pay attention to keyword research, content and relevance
